Indications:
Monotherapy epilepsy: Initial monotherapy in patients ≥ 2 years of age with partial onset or primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures.
Adjunctive therapy epilepsy: Adjunctive therapy in patients ≥2 years of age with partial onset seizures, primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures, or seizures associated with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS).
Migraine: Preventive treatment of migraine in patients 12 years of age and older.
Dosage and Administration:
Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
Topiramate can be taken before, during, or after a meal. Drink plenty of fluids during the day to prevent kidney stones while taking topiramate.
Topiramate tablets are to be swallowed whole. Avoid chewing the tablets as they may leave a bitter taste.
Your doctor will usually start you on a low dose of topiramate and slowly increase your dose until the best dose is found for you.
You should avoid drinking alcohol when taking topiramate
Contraindication:
Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients.
Migraine prophylaxis in pregnancy and in women of childbearing potential if not using effective methods of contraception.
